Welcome aboard the Carlingford Lough Ferry!
We offer a truly unique and convenient way to travel between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Forget lengthy detours – we provide a direct, scenic crossing across beautiful Carlingford Lough.
Here’s how you can use our service when you visit:
- Where does it go? We operate between Greencastle in County Down, Northern Ireland and Greenore in County Louth, Republic of Ireland.
- How long does the crossing take? Enjoy a quick and pleasant journey of approximately 20 minutes.
- When can you travel? We sail hourly, on the hour, from 10:00am until 6:00pm.
- How do you get tickets? You can purchase tickets online in advance for a hassle-free experience, or simply buy them upon your arrival at the Greencastle terminal. Tickets are valid for any sailing on the day of purchase (or within specified validity periods).
- Can you bring your vehicle? Absolutely! We are an "All Vehicle" ferry, meaning cars, vans, and other vehicles are all welcome aboard.
Getting to & from our terminals:
Our Greencastle terminal is easily accessible from major routes. Once you arrive in Greenore, you'll be just a short distance – around 10km – from the charming town of Carlingford. We’re also well connected to motorways leading from both Dublin and Belfast, making onward travel simple.
Important to note: We operate seasonally, generally from spring through to Halloween. We look forward to welcoming you aboard in the next season!
